C & V Income Tax Services (“C & V”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy and safeguarding the personal information you provide to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you interact with our website, TaxDome client portal, mobile app, and our tax preparation and related services.
This policy is intended to meet our obligations under applicable Canadian privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and any applicable provincial privacy laws.
1) Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected by C & V through our website (www.cvtax.ca), our secure client portal powered by TaxDome, our mobile application (the “App”), and communications with us (email, phone, in-person, or online). This policy does not apply to third-party websites or services that may be linked from our website or App.
2) What is “personal information”?
“Personal information” means information about an identifiable individual. Because we provide tax services, some information we handle may be highly sensitive, including identification, financial, and tax information.
3) Information we collect
We collect only what is reasonably necessary to provide our services and operate our business, which may include:
- Tax and financial information (highly sensitive)
Tax slips, income details, deductions, credits, rental and business information, Social Insurance Number (SIN) and other government identifiers (where required), date of birth, marital status, dependants, and CRA authorization information (where applicable). - Identity and contact information
Name, mailing address, email address, phone number, and government-issued identification (only where required). - TaxDome portal information
Account and login information, uploaded documents, messages, e-signatures, engagement letters, invoices, and activity history. - Payments (Stripe)
Payment status, amounts, invoice details, and transaction identifiers. Payment card information is processed securely by Stripe. We do not store full credit card numbers on our systems. - Website and device information
IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, pages visited, actions taken, cookies, and similar technologies.
4) How we collect information
We collect personal information directly from you, through your use of our website, TaxDome portal, and App, and from third parties you authorize or that are permitted by law (for example, CRA or financial institutions where applicable).
5) Why we collect and use personal information
We use personal information to prepare, complete, and file tax returns; verify identity; prevent fraud; provide secure portal services through TaxDome; process payments through Stripe; communicate about document requests, return status, and appointments; maintain legally required records; and improve our services and systems.
With consent where required, we may also send service reminders or updates. You may opt out at any time.
6) Consent
We collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent, except where permitted or required by law. Consent may be express or implied depending on the circumstances. You may withdraw consent in certain situations; however, doing so may limit our ability to provide services.
7) Disclosure of personal information
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose personal information to the Canada Revenue Agency and other tax authorities; to service providers such as TaxDome, Stripe, and other IT or professional vendors under confidentiality obligations; where required by law; to protect our rights and prevent fraud; or in connection with a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.
8) Transfers outside Canada
Some service providers, including those supporting TaxDome and Stripe, may store or process information outside Canada. As a result, personal information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate privacy and security protections are in place.
9) Safeguarding your information
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including secure client portals, access controls, encryption, and staff confidentiality obligations. While no system is completely secure, we work to protect personal information and reduce risk.

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to support functionality, remember preferences, analyze traffic, and improve performance. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
11) Retention
