C & V Income Tax Services

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and C & V Income Tax Services (“C & V”, “we”, “us”, “our”) and govern your access to and use of www.cvtax.ca (the “Website”), including any content, features, tools, and services made available on or through the Website.

By accessing or using the Website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Website.

1) Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on the Website. Your continued use of the Website after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.

2) Privacy

Your use of the Website is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and safeguard personal information. If there is a conflict between these Terms and the Privacy Policy regarding personal information, the Privacy Policy governs.

3) Website purpose and no professional advice

Information on this Website is provided for general informational purposes only. It is not legal, accounting, or tax advice and may not be current or complete. Tax matters are fact-specific—please contact us directly to obtain advice tailored to your situation.

Using the Website does not create an accountant-client, advisor-client, or other professional relationship between you and C & V.

4) Access, availability, and security

We may withdraw, change, suspend, or restrict access to all or any part of the Website at any time without notice. We do not guarantee that the Website will be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

You are responsible for:

• making all arrangements necessary to access the Website; and
• ensuring anyone who accesses the Website through your internet connection complies with these Terms.

5) Client portal and payments (TaxDome + Stripe)

Certain services (secure document upload, messaging, e-signatures, invoices, and workflow updates) are provided through our secure TaxDome client portal. Online payments may be processed through Stripe.

Your use of TaxDome and Stripe may also be subject to those providers’ own terms and policies. C & V is not responsible for the content, availability, or performance of third-party platforms, except to the extent required by law.

6) Account responsibilities

If you create or use an account (including a portal account), you agree to:

• provide accurate, current, and complete information;
• keep your login credentials confidential; and
• notify us immediately of any unauthorized use or suspected security breach.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

7) Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Website (or attempt to use it) in any way that:

• violates any applicable law or regulation;
• compromises security, integrity, or availability of the Website, portal, or related systems;
• attempts unauthorized access to any account, data, or system;
• transmits malware (viruses, spyware, worms, etc.) or harmful code;
• interferes with or disrupts the Website or other users;
• scrapes, harvests, or collects information from the Website without permission; or
• misrepresents your identity or affiliation with any person or organization.

We may investigate suspected violations and may suspend or terminate access where appropriate.

8) Intellectual property and licence

The Website and its contents (text, graphics, logos, images, design, and other materials) are owned by C & V or licensed to us and are protected by intellectual property laws.

We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Website for your personal, non-commercial use only.

You may not:

• copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display, or republish Website content without written permission;
• use our name, logo, or branding without written authorization;
• frame or mirror any part of the Website; or
• use the Website content for commercial purposes.

9) User submissions

If you send us information through the Website (for example, inquiry forms or messages), you represent that the information you submit is accurate to the best of your knowledge and does not infringe anyone’s rights.

For sensitive documents (tax slips, IDs, etc.), we strongly recommend using the secure TaxDome portal rather than email or website forms, unless we instruct otherwise.

10) Third-party links

The Website may include links to third-party websites for convenience. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, security, or practices. Accessing third-party sites is at your own risk.

11) Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Website and all content and services made available through it are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We make no warranties or representations of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, availability, non-infringement, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

12) Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, C & V and its owners, employees, contractors, and service providers will not be liable for any damages arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Website, including indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of profits, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

13) Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless C & V and its affiliates, owners, employees, contractors, and service providers from any claims, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Website.

14) Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, without regard to conflict of law principles. You agree that any dispute relating to the Website or these Terms will be brought in the courts located in Ontario, unless applicable law provides otherwise.
